Decks by DAK Construction(“DAK”, “we”, “us”) is a Virginia-based deck and outdoor living contractor. We respect your privacy and want you to know exactly what we do with the information you share when you visit https://decksbydak.com or contact us about a project. This page explains it in plain English.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in two ways:
Information you give us directly. When you fill out our contact form, request a free estimate, or upload photos of your space, we collect what you submit — typically your name, email address, phone number, property address or general location, and details about the project you have in mind. If you upload photos to help us understand the job, we keep those alongside your inquiry.
Information collected automatically.Like most websites, we use cookies and analytics tools to understand how visitors use our site. This includes data like your approximate location, the pages you visit, how long you spend on them, and the device and browser you’re using. We use Google Analytics (loaded through Google Tag Manager) and a Meta (Facebook) Pixel for this.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information you give us to:
- Respond to your estimate requests and questions
- Schedule and prepare for in-person or virtual consultations
- Send you project updates, scheduling notes, and follow-up communications
- Improve our website, our services, and how we communicate with homeowners
We don’t use your information for unrelated marketing without your permission.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. Period.
We share your information only with the service providers we need to run our business, and only for that purpose. Those include:
- Our email delivery provider (Resend), so we can send and receive emails about your project
- Our CRM and lead management software (Markate), so we can keep track of your inquiry and follow up properly
- Our database host (Supabase), where lead submissions are stored
- Our analytics providers (Google, Meta), as described above
We may also share information if we’re legally required to — for example, in response to a valid subpoena.
4. Cookies & Analytics
Our site uses cookies and similar technologies through Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, and the Meta Pixel. These tools help us understand which pages homeowners find useful, where our traffic comes from, and how to make the site better. They may also help us measure the effectiveness of advertising.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and you can manage cookies and ad preferences through your browser settings or the privacy controls on your Google and Meta accounts.
5. Data Retention
We keep inquiry and lead information for as long as we have an active or potential business relationship with you, plus a reasonable period afterward for our business records (typically up to seven years for completed projects, to align with standard contractor recordkeeping). If you ask us to delete your information sooner, we will — see the next section.
6. Your Rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- Tell you what information we have about you
- Correct anything that’s wrong
- Delete your information from our systems (except where we’re required to keep it for legal or contract reasons)
- Stop sending you marketing emails (you can also use the unsubscribe link in any email we send)
